A Year On.

Its nearly a year since we took on the walled garden at Dillington, and I can,t believe how lucky we are.
We were looking for more space for allotments as the original site in Ilminster was full, with a long waiting list.More and more people are interested in growing fruit and vegetables, gardening has become trendy! Not just the perogative of the old boys.
We had been offered various parcels of land by the local council, but none of them were suitable, usually due to location and/or aspect. Then I took a call from the estate manager at Dillington!Wow,they were offering us the use of the walled garden, and about two acres of pig and chicken pens.
This had been run by a well known lady journalist as a smallholding, but times change, and she was prepared to pass it on to us.
We have poly-tunnels, a glass house,a potting shed,water and vehicle access.Wow.
A year on,we have eight very large plots with several more being prepared.A very mixed bag of plot-holders.Pigs,ducks,chickens and geese.
I should have started this blog ages ago,so this will be the story of our second year.
